Brrrrrrr
January 27th, 2008 and a cold one to be sure. It was -48 this morning with smog, fog and brisk winds to blow it all around. But the weatherman has promised a warm up to -15 or +5 by tomorrow with a possiblity of snow...woohoo a heat wave! My friend Carole claims it's colder down there in Chicago, but I'm not so sure. A quick check of the weather outside shows a balmy -22 but the winds are a howling so it's still too cold to sunbathe...oh wait the sun is setting out there right now, darn. Not much to mention from the far north today. The UAF Nanook hockey team got spanked last nite by the Ohio Redhawks...7/2. The local semi-pro arena football team, (The Grizzlies) are trying to hire a team for the games to start next month. But they got the important stuff out of the way already; sold season passes and hired the cheerleaders. It seems that a pre-requisite to be a cheerleader is based on the number of tatoos they have...There was an expression here about Alaska being a land where to find a man the odds were good, but the goods were odd..I think that can be said about a lot of things up here. But I still love the place, including the variety of people you meet everyday. We are thinking about a spring trip to Cordova for the spring bird migration..thousands of birds...will keep you updated. Must get back to work, hope all is good with all of you.
